FLINT YOUTH THEATRE ANNOUNCES MAJOR EXPANSION –TRANSFORMING INTO FLINT REPERTORY THEATRE
We’re expanding the depth and breadth of our programming and mission and transforming FYT into FLINT REPERTORY THEATRE - a professional, not for profit regional theatre right here, in the heart of Flint.

For over 60 years, here at FYT, we’ve served young people and their families. We’re extremely proud of the work we’ve done and now we’re expanding to serve all ages - the entire population of Flint, Genesee County and the surrounding areas.

The Rep’s new commitment is to provide our audience with highly imaginative, thought provoking theatre that is challenging, entertaining and inspiring for all ages. To this end, the Rep will present an eclectic new Signature Series of world premiere plays and musicals and bold new interpretations of theatrical classics for adults this coming season. Alongside our new programming for adults, we will present a Theatre For Young Audience Series, which will feature the best and brightest of the genre for the entire family.

What will happen to Flint Youth Theatre?
Flint Youth Theatre will stay right here – under the new banner of Flint Repertory Theatre. Flint Youth Theatre will become a program of our Education Department and will present student driven productions that perform at our theatre and tour to area schools and community organizations.

Along with our professional season of diverse works we will continue to provide year-round education classes, camps and workshops for every grade level.

What else will The Rep offer?
The change to Flint Repertory Theatre will create new opportunities including college and university apprenticeships, professional fellowships and adult classes.

Through the expansion of our “New Works Festival” and the creation of the new “Flint Rep Lab”, The Rep will become a hub for creating new theatrical work that can only be seen in the city of Flint. This expansion will offer a multitude of new opportunities for audiences, students and professional theatre artists.

We hope to see you at our Season Announcement Party, Wednesday, August 22 at 6:30pm where we’ll reveal the upcoming show titles and celebrate our new season of transformation! Thank you for your continued support and I hope to see you soon at The Rep!

Sincerely,
Michael Lluberes
