Education

Welcome!

What an exciting year we have planned for Flint Repertory Theatre and our Education Department! This is a year of transformation for both the theatre and the educational offerings. To start with, Flint Youth Theatre (FYT) is now the premier program of the education department. FYT will focus on student-driven productions that perform at our theatres as well as tour to area schools and community organizations. We will also be hosting the Young Playwrights Festival, which will workshop young playwrights’ original works under the guidance of theatre professionals, culminating in a festival of staged readings.

Another addition this season will be offerings for adults, 18 years and older. These classes will be part of the Actor’s Toolbox series and will focus on building character, improvisation and understanding Shakespeare.  These offerings are meant for both beginning and advanced actors and will be held over the course of two half days of immersive training, taught by our outstanding Teaching Artists.

Along with these additions, we will continue to offer our year round classes, camps and workshops for students 4 years old through 12th grade. These courses help young artists not only develop their love for theatre, but also their awareness of themselves and what they can do when they harness their creativity.

Whether you have taken classes before or are just starting on your journey with us, we look forward to seeing you grow, develop and create as you take the stage with us.
